New Zealand
Well, here's my blog from my trip to New Zealand. I'm all back safe and sound. You can catch up with what I did here!

Singapore Slung

TWENTY-EIGHT DOLLARS?! TWENTY-EIGHT DOLLARS?! It must have been the peanuts! Well, I stopped in for a Singapore Sling at Raffles Hotel - very nice too, but I do have to say - TWENTY-EIGHT DOLLARS?! TWENTY-EIGHT DOLLARS?! Despite having my fortune told this morning (sort of) - I didn't see that coming! It did mean that I then couldn't affort both my laundry and a taxi to the airport - so had to go to the airport by tube train at a cost of $1.60. Well, I'm here now with my last few dollars - and boy am I ready for a sit down! :- )

PS. S+S - I hold you entirely responsible ;- )

More Singapore
Tuesday, 01 December 2009 15:10

Singapore has been fantastic! I have walked my little feet off and will be glad of the sit down that tomorrow's flight will give me!

Yesterday I went to the zoo and night safari. Really good venues in beautiful settings. Sadly this crusty old computer won't let me upload photos, grrr! At the Night Safari I had my feet nibbled by little fish - deliberately! They're called Doctor Fish and they eat the hard skin on your feet, like an interractive pumice stone (I don't know how they know when to stop!). It's supposed to do you good. Don't know if it does them any good - I hope they like sun tan lotion 'cos I forgot that my legs had some on! Oops! Well, I don't suppose they'll get sun burnt then!

Today I took the train to go to the Science Centre. I specifically wanted to see the Body Worlds exhibition (which I've missed whenever it's been in the UK). It's a crossover between art, medicine and freak show. I especially liked the slice by slice giraffe.

Oh yes, I also went of a bit of a wild goose chase this afternoon. The other day I happened to see seaweed flavour pringles - oh, yes! Did I buy them? No. Can I find them now? No! Grrr. Not sure my poor feet can carry me out to find them again.

So, tomorrow - if I can get up in time I'll go to the Singapore Art Musuem (right next to my hotel (almost)), and hopefully find time for a Singapore Sling in the Raffles Hotel - assuming they let me in! ;- ) Then it's a short taxi ride to the airport for my flight to NZ (via Sydney) and catch up with my old friend John, in Auckland. Hopefully Auckland will be a bit cooler than it's been here!

Arrived in Singapore
Sunday, 29 November 2009 11:06

Well, I'm here! It's sunny (and rainy), hot and sticky. I'm already pink from too much sun! Oh well, maybe I'll be a bronzed adonis by the time I get back! ;- )

I haven't slept much since waking up 5.45 in England on Saturday morning so I'm looking forward to my bed tonight (even though it's the firmest bed I've slept on for a while - that'll serve me right for leaping on it at great speed!).

Singapore is a lovely place - everyone says how clean it is, and that's true it is clean - it kind of reminds me of a clean and tidy India (brings back good memories, er, and some horrid ones!)

One of the strangest things is seeing Christmas decorations on the streets when it's blisteringly hot, people are eating ice creams and lolling around in the shade (sun for me*, being a mad dog and all that!). Takes a bit of getting used to.

I hope you've not had any snow yet - usual rules apply - no snow 'til I get back!

Right, better shove off and get summat to eat.

Niggle.

xx

*That'll be why I'm a bit pink then!

All Packed
Sunday, 22 November 2009 23:32

Well, that's it! Just over 5 days to go and I'm all packed! Yup - I almost don't believe it myself. I didn't quite pack everything I originally thought I would and probably could leave out one or two other items. Couple of pairs of socks didn't make it - but you'll be pleased to know that all the pants went in the bag! ;- )

This leaves me with a couple of days to painic over nothing and to locate my travel insurance documents - they can't be far, can they?

Waitrose, the duck (that's his name) and my travel companion is all set to go too - think he's more excited than I.

...and counting!

Just in case you were wondering how long it is until I go to New Zealand, I've added a counter under the menus on this blog page!

Not that I'll be looking at it every 5 minutes or so!

;- )
