Going Up! - A Tribute
We said our goodbyes to my good friend Eric this week. Sadly Eric died on 17 September 2011 following a stroke the week before. He was 84 years old. Eric and I had been friends for something like 14 years. Having joined Wantage Community Church in 1997 I soon had regular Sunday lunch invites at Eric & Jean's home. Eric and I became prayer partners... Read more...

Trick Photography

Got to spend some quality time (and saw a good film) with my good friend Oli Ward last week. It was a freezing day in Oxford but we both wanted him to trick and me to photograph - a really good opportunity for us both to practice! I managed to take a thousand photos and he managed to cut his hand - but I love the results when the best of his skill meets the best of mine - in a split second (and a bit of luck on my part too). Oli tricked and I photographed on Cornmarket Street, outside the Ashmolean Museum, outside the Said Business School and at the Westgate Car Park, Oxford. Hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do.

[BTW: You can keep an eye on Oli on his Youtube channel.]

Watt a Year!

They say 'life begins at 40' and I never quite knew what they meant!

I recently made my '2010 Year in Status' image on facebook, which puts all your status updates together in one place - a really handy way to do a quick review of the year (unless you don't update your status much, or always update it to say the same thing that it said just now anyway).

For most of 2010 I was inded 40 but I wasn't really looking for life to begin - maybe in unspoken prayers, perhaps!

My 'Year in Status' pleasantly reminded me of a few beginnings and a few endings: I miss Bertha - the vending machine at work that when it grows up wants to be a slot machine and live in an arcade down by the beach! How's she doing? Anyone know?

I discusted myself in 2010 by getting points on my licence for (getting caught) speeding. It was a 40 limit 15 years ago when I drove it every day to work and back! No excuses! Hopefully this is the end of that particular beginning!

This ending is destined to be a beginning...

Tempted to write a round-robin, I decided that just pictures would be way more fun; so here's most of 2010 from the viewport of my camera! You'd better have a look - you might be in here somewhere! ;- ) 2010 in Pictures

2010-2010-2010 Brilliant!

No-one was really sure who would be there! I had a hint that one or two people were going to make it but couldn't be sure. We'd waited something like 16 years for this one moment, 2010-2010-2010!

Back in 1994 Maria (although she can't remember it being her) came up with the idea of meeting up outside Wimborne Minster at ten past eight (2010) on October 20th (20/10) in the year 2010. At the time it seemed an age away and maybe it was - but it arrived anyway, bang on time!

2010-2010-2010 2010-2010-2010

Having had a slap-up meal with Steve and Kathy at The King's Head, I dashed off (leaving Steve to pick up the bill) with but a few minutes to spare. I was delighted with the turn-out! Thanks everyone who came! We had (see above pic), Christian, me, Steve, Kathy, Jon and Vicki, Ian and Vicki, John J, Debbie, Debbie, Maria, Fiona, Lou and Ed (who was late so missed the pic)!

Stupidly perhaps, I asked, "So, when is the next one?", and it was decided that it should be in about 16 years time, so I look forward to seeing you all at 27 minutes past eight on Tuesday 20 July in 2027 for 2027-20/7-2027. Yea, not quite as catchy huh?!
